MAMI Mumbai Film Festival will return in 2026 with a Bold New Identity

FESTIVAL NEWS
Cult Critic MAMI Mumbai Film Festival will return in 2026 with a Bold New Identity

Film Festivals around the world in 2026 will welcome a bold new arrival as MAMI Mumbai Film Festival returns in 2026 with a transformed identity and renewed purpose. As part of a strategic reorganization, the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image has formally declared that the 2025 edition will not take place. Instead, the festival will return in 2026 with a new logo, a fresh vision, and a closer connection to the Film Festival Circuit. The goal of the redesign is to reestablish MAMI as a leading venue in the changing festival landscape.

As a strong indication of its dedication to the Film Industry and its evolving requirements, festival director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur has confirmed that the event will return in 2026 with a focus on promoting independent, regional, and classic cinema, not just from India but from all over the world. In order to better serve Filmmakers, influencers, and consumers, he said the process is "in the process of revamping with a dynamic vision and a new team."

The need for this renewal was made evident by the diminished 2024 edition, which was plagued by logistical problems, packed stadiums, and ticketing confusion in addition to losing a title sponsorship. The 2026 Film Festivals edition will respond by presenting a revised identity as well as a redesigned Film Market environment that improves interaction between international Film Industry players, audiences, and artists.

This planned evolution is expected to restore MAMI’s position on the global Film Festival Circuit strengthening its appeal to both domestic and international filmmakers and Film Industry Influencers. While official dates have yet to be announced, sources indicate the new schedule and logo reveal will be shared in the coming months, signalling a refreshed chapter in the life of this influential Film Festivals brand.

The return of MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2026 is set to reshape India’s cinematic landscape by providing Filmmakers film buyers, critics, and audiences with a dynamic platform that unites independent and regional storytelling with classic and global cinema. With a refreshed strategic focus, MAMI is poised to re-establish itself as a key player in the 2026 Film Festivals season and a driving force on the international Film Festival Circuit reaffirming its leadership in creativity and innovation within the Film Industry ultimately reinforcing the vital role of Film Festivals.
