Two people with the same face, one murder. In Gumraah a thriller film that ends up taking very predictable turns, the police must solve a mystery. The brutal murder of a man marks the start of the film in a chilling manner. Aditya Roy Kapur plays the culprit in his first double role. It concludes with the arrest of two individuals for the same crime, leaving the audience and the police trying to determine who might have been the killer.

Vardhan Ketkar's Gumraah begins by telling viewers that it is "inspired by true cases." The movie ends with examples from countries like Malaysia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany, among others, where this kind of thing has happened. Shivani Mathur, played by Mrunal Thakur, is tasked with investigating the death of a young techie. Her name may be a reference to the film character played by Rani Mukerji in Mardaani (2014). When her superior ACP Dhiren Yadav (Ronit Roy) gets up to date, she has her initial theories on the case, but he has the whole thing figured out. Shivani is extremely focused and unassuming.

This is a retelling of a south Indian classic, as is the case with the majority of Hindi films these days. Gumraah is a remake of Thadam, a 2019 Tamil film in which Arun Vijay plays two roles. However, within the first twenty or so minutes of the film, the focus shifts away from the murder mystery and instead shifts into a flashback of Arjun and Sooraj's lives, where they attempt to explain how they got to the night of the murder. It then digs into a sentiment with the presentation of Janhvi (Vedika) with Arjun, while likewise shuffling Sooraj's derail a burglary turned out badly with his companion and companion Chaddi (Deepak Kalra).

The crime thriller film has some well-executed action scenes and a few unintentional moments of laugh-out-loud humor in its dialogue, but overall, it feels like an extended television show episode. In the first half, the romance detour makes it feel like a separate movie.
