Only they have the power to understand and motivate us from not thinking the way we are. The feathers directed by Joe Bor revolve around Mike who is currently depressed and discusses his condition with his friend. Depression is a mental health condition that manifests in a myriad of ways. It can make people feel lonely, detached, down or unmotivated like there’s no point to anything. It can also spur them to act irrationally or destructively. We need movies about depression — of course along with other subjects in the world of independent cinema. Depression is a subject is so powerful that it will definitely attract the attention of viewers. According to research above 50% of the Americans die out of depression and anxiety. Movies of depression and hope to live can help us understand, humanize and sympathize with the many ways people experience mental sickness. “The Feathers” is much more than a subjective conversation between two friends. It has past visualization, and facts that show that the protagonist is suffering from depression or is he over thinking! About which The Feathers is “best” - in terms of the filmmaking good writing, interesting characters, solid plot, Joe Bor has done a really great job. In the words of the director “We wanted to make something cinematic and natural but with a comedic twist at the end. We developed the idea from a Mike Gunn stand up routine and we adapted it into a conversation. We worked with comedians who would perform the piece naturally and be able to best deliver the comedic moment at the end of the film.” The film gets the title feathers all because Mike the protagonist of the story sees feathers everywhere. This makes him get a negative feeling that why does he encounter white feathers and he really does not understand why he sees that. The feeling of hopelessness regarding matters is a part of the depression, maybe it is an indication. But an indication of what! If you experience similar visuals repeatedly then according to psychology, our inner-guidance is using some material aspect to communicate something important, but you are not “getting it.” The majority of recurrent dreams usually appear as a nightmare so you won’t dismiss the information. A white feather can also be your Angel telling you that any loved ones in heaven are safe and well. The Feathers directed by Joe Bor is about Depression and hope, but when you look deep into the meaning the site features and how mike sees feathers everywhere, the director is clear in his vision. He sends the message to his viewers that feathers which is a part of the birds and they symbolize hope and freedom. So, “the feathers” is all about the ability to transcend and move beyond your mental barriers and limitations - to see the larger picture and understand what really matters.
