Lontane ma vicine

Directed by Massimiliano Tedeschi  |  Review by Ananya Jana

Massimiliano Tedeschi Is an Independent Filmmaker as well as Former Attore at Associazione Cultural Filmax. He is passionate about films and film theory and his passion for movies pulled him to make brilliant stories. “Time the preserver, the time the destroyer” and the whole movie clearly substantiate it. Destiny takes them to Italy and the sheer depth of historical research will leave everybody completely mesmerized by the concept of the movie, as well as the perfectly fitting historical background into the story.

There are continuous highs and lows in Aish’s life as well as Monica’s, which makes the characters quite emotional throughout the story. At one point, there is a nail-biting suspense, at another, you will be surprised at the depth of the characters and thereby, of the movie. Although there were no points where I felt that the number of surprises could have been cut down, eventually, I understood that the bigger picture made sense, because of those surprises. I think that these plots are going fabulously and these characters are the remainder of the category of movies which you can dive into when you need the reassurance of someone being there for you, as all characters are for each other. Aisha has also recently embarked on a deeply passionate love affair that will change her destiny forever. There, Monica begins to discover her roots - and how her story is inextricably bound to that of a young unknown sister, Aisha, who lived there over but being a good family she is unknown to her as well as for her family and society. As Monica learns more about Aisha, she also begins to question herself why she feels so intimate with her, why she feels so familiar as well. The Plot of the movie is exquisite that spell-bound us with its ruined like essence.

The director has unfolded the stories of Aisha and Monica strikingly and consecutively, with Aisha’s story breaking at such vital points that kept us anticipating real hard. The plot is eloquent and evocative that kept me gazing at the movie till its very end. Moreover, the articulate and engaging plot kept me glued till the very last section of the movie. The emotional pull in this movie is quite strong since the story unfolds from Aisha and Monica’s Point of View, who both happen to grief. Their story made my heart break into millions of pieces. Also while seeing I felt like the director has poured all her best emotions while making this story. This movie has many layers and each intricate layer is present with enough compassion and depth. Despite Monica and Aisha, the author has given the opportunity to her readers to look at the story from their own perspectives. The characters are well-crafted and exceptionally brilliant. Definitely worth checking out.
