  Directed by Abhay Thakur | Reviewed by Adva Reichman ‘Enigma- The Fallen Angel’ revolves around Richa, a young disturbed woman, who spent her life fighting her inner battles. As Richa sits in her psychiatrist’s office, she recounts her childhood story and the non-stop headaches she had to face. Her worried parents couldn’t find a cure, and the little girl’s mental condition worsened. Isolated and depressed, Richawas headed nowhere good. As a result, she couldn’t bring herself to graduate or build a life a functioning adult. Her pain consumed her being and her hope to live a better life diminished. However, the psychiatrist sitting before her doesn’t believe her and pushes her to go deeper and reveal the truth. As she does, we get to see different sides in her personality and the problematic behaviors she displays. The plot thickens when Richa meets another woman,Myra Singh, and the two become friends. Finally, Richa feels accepted and loved, but as time passes, she is unable to hide her issues and their friendship is put the test. Will it survive? Will they survive? You’ll have to watch to find out.   Richa seems to believe a cure has been found and that she could rid herself of the headaches that demolished her life. But the price is horrendous, and the choice is unbearable. Towards the end of the film, the director supplies us with an interesting twist and takes Richa, and us, even deeper into the rabbit hole. Abhay Thakur, the film’s director and producer, describes the film as“an extremely different take on the real, dark & selfish instincts that reside among all of us. Summing up, we need to understand the great words of Friedrich Nietzsche, “ He who fights his own demons, must take care he doesn’t become one”.” Arjun Pradhan, the writer, created a delicate world for his complex characters to live in, thus elevating the drama and suspense. The acting done by Ruchita Jadhav as Richa is captivating, and is beautifully reinforced by the splendid performances of Yateen Karyekar as Dr. Rajeev Menon, and Ananya Sengupta as Myra Singh.The music enhances the story and the beautiful cinematography, done by Ashish Mistry, reveals the sad truth behind Richa’s character.The director, Abhay Thakur, did a great job bringing the characters to life and taking the viewers on a rocky ride. Abhay Thakur, has been in the industry for several years and produced countless films for various studios and production houses. His visual effects work has garnered him an ‘11th Dadasaheb Phalke Award’ for the film “once more.” “ENIGMA - The Fallen Angel” is his directorial debut, and with such a beginning, I can’t wait to see where and when he’ll takes us next.
