Do we love someone for their virtue, their beauty, or their moral or other qualities? Is love characterized by altruism or selfishness? Are there duties of love? We use the word love to describe a lot of things. We love food. We love music. We love a good joke and we love having a good time. Using love to describe such simple things makes the word seem a little safer. It is safe because we are not exposed but when we choose to share our life with another person, we inevitably make a choice to become Vincible. Unfortunately, vulnerability leaves our defenses down and often we get hurt.
We all know the feeling: rejection, humiliation, desperation. Opening our heart to another person, only to be rejected, is one of the most painful experiences in life. It hurts the most because in love we are most vulnerable. It’s worse than physical pain because it shakes us at the core of our identity, our hopes, and our dreams. We cannot help but feel empty and worthless. We cannot help but feel hopeless. You display your love in different ways to different people. The nature or type of your display of affection would also depend on the kind or degree of love between you and your loved one. True or unconditional love doesn’t seek anything in return. The deep well of positive emotions in your heart replenishes itself and never runs out of love. However, most interpersonal relationships are based on Interchange. If you do something for somebody, you expect that person to do something for you. In either case, you need to express love to your loved one can know and feel it. This saves him or her from anticipation.
Love Looks Pretty on everybody is a collection of love in all its forms. Love of family, friends, partners, healthy love, lost love, etc. Love isn’t one action, isn’t a feeling, isn’t a just mindset. It’s more than just being nice. It isn’t simply there; it is developed over time. It has to be honed, crafted, and practiced. Love is all around us and at the same time, it is inside us – even during the hard times when we might not feel it. We carry it with us all the time no matter if it’s pulsating with majestic sounds so anyone can hear it or is muted for an indefinite period. It’s astounding how the film manages to portray so much in just over a minute without actually telling a classic story. With quick snippets, it describes different types of love that everyone feels. It’s hard to say if one person can experience all forms of love. Actually, it’s hard to say even how many forms of love are out there. But in the end, does it really matter? Same as you’ll never meet the characters you see in this movie. But what’s more important, in the little less than 2 minutes, you’ll feel what they feel – love.
