Developer: Frictional Games

Publishers: Frictional Games

Interest 6

Amnesia: The Bunker by Frictional is not the game you think it is. Although, like previous entries, it is a survival horror game with a heavy emphasis on lighting and a slow pace, this experience offers so much more.

This time, however, you're not railroaded down a particular story, you are given some gear, locked up in a bunker with a terrifying, quick-moving, loud monster, and left with only one objective ESCAPE! Everything in Amnesia: The Bunker takes a long time. You have to manually check the revolver cylinder for ammunition, and moving any object in the world, especially doors, feels like moving a mountain. It takes an age of loud whirring noises to get your lamp to work. This may sound frustrating but this makes Amnesia: The Bunker a truly immersive experience.

Amnesia: The Bunker is a game with a profoundly harsh air. It combines elements of classic immersive simulations and fixed-camera survival horror to make you feel constantly in danger. This, in turn, helps you comprehend its horror dynamics, map layout, and interconnected systems to such an extent that you could return to it blindfolded.

Sadly, the trailer for Amnesia: The Bunker only gives us a creepy tour through the bunker to give us a taste of those systems in action. However, if this strategy is applied to the subsequent Amnesia game, it ought to result in some intriguing emergent gameplay moments and provide the game with sufficient variety to make it just as enjoyable to watch players play as Amnesia in 2010 appeared on YouTube.
