A Separate SkyREVIEW
CAT INDEX OVERVIEW
“A SEPARATE SKY”, a film directed by Raajhorshee De focus on a major issue faced worldwide but, in this case, it’s in India. The political battles and outbreaks of a secularist and a fascist mentality is still a broad issue.
The film looks into the matters of the Hindu Muslim clashes that are faced daily in the world we live in. The film shows Ronnie, a boy whose dad is a political leader and they both have the mentality of not being able to stand any Muslim person as they believe anyone born a Muslim is bad in nature and may cause harm, which is definitely a wrong mindset.
Ronnie, dates a girl whose dad is also a political leader and does not take well to this approach, hence more importantly judged as a secularist in the film. Ronnie, himself is of a fascist nature as he is afraid of his dad, and follows his mindset blindly instead of arguing or challenging him even if he may have a doubt on his approach.
In a while there is a major issue that takes place in the film, where Ronnie’s dad sends people in the school for political matters causing a major issue in the school itself. The school teacher does not take this nicely and shouts on Ronnie to keep these affairs at home, and she herself being a Muslim was astonished by this behavior.
The background score and visuals of the film are appealing to the viewers. A Film with a great concept that is needed by every soul to be watched. As we approach the climax scene, we find things getting out of hand, as guns appear to enter the scene, but the most nail-biting or efficient twist in the end is when Ronnie, himself finally brings out the courage in him to stand against his dad for fighting him back as his dad’s ways are wrong and demeaning.
The film ends with our secularist approach being victorious without the need of violence and as peace is restored again amongst the each of them.
